Digital Cameras

In 2000, I bought a Canon PowerShot S10, which was a fine little camera that has worked well for us. Starting last summer, though, it began losing reliability. When Ang and Alex came back from Holland, the zoom lens was extended and required a solid thump to get the camera to stop throwing cryptic errors on the display. Finally, this week, the darned thing stopped taking photos, returning partially or completely black frames instead.

So last night, Ang bought a Canon A85, which is a pretty good improvement on the old S10. What's really amazing to me is how this camera, which is at least twice the old one in almost every way, costs half what I paid for the S10 five years ago. Gotta love progress.
